What it owns
What Tofutti reports owning in its annual reports to the SEC: buildings, land and equipment, real estate and locations, investments, intangible assets and inventory, at the end of its latest fiscal year and a year before.
Our facilities are located in a one-story facility in Edison, New Jersey. The 5,100 square foot facility houses our administrative offices, a warehouse and freezer and refrigeration equipment. Our lease commenced on July 1 2024, with an option to extend for an additional five years at the end of the lease. Annual rent for the lease escalates by 3% year over year until the end of the lease term. We completed the move into the new facility in September 2024. Our rent expense was $86,000 in fiscal 2025 and $118,000 in fiscal 2024. Our management believes that the Edison facility will continue to satisfy our space requirements for the immediate future. We rent warehouse storage space at various outside facilities. Outside warehouse expenses amounted to $351,000 and $359,000 during fiscal 2025 and 2024, respectively.
In the 1970s, David Mintz, who owned catering companies in New York, decided to make non-dairy ice cream out of tofu, for his Orthodox Jewish customers who did not eat dairy and meat products together. After nine years of experimenting, Tofutti was introduced in 1981. David Mintz died in 2021.
Tofutti produces an ice cream substitute, soy-based sour cream, cream cheese, sliced cheese, and ricotta cheese. And frozen desserts, namely "Tofutti Cuties", their version of the ice cream sandwich. All Tofutti products are plant-based and vegan.
