The short version

You can read every page without an account. If you make one, we keep your email, your name and the settings you choose, and nothing else. We don’t sell your data, and there are no ads or ad trackers on this site.

If you make an account

Your quiz answers stay in your browser. Only the type and scores you end up with are saved to the account. We send account emails, like password resets, and only the newsletter you sign up for. You can delete your account from your account page, and that removes everything above.

What your browser keeps

Some settings are saved in your own browser, not on our servers. These include the story side you picked, chart ranges, the currency you show prices in and your game progress. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

Our servers

The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, it handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and to block abuse, such as repeated sign-in attempts. We don’t use those details to build a profile of you.

The plane and yacht maps load map images from Esri, so Esri’s servers see your IP address when you view one. Links to other sites, such as the outlets we cite, take you to pages with their own privacy rules.

Children

Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you think a child under 13 has made one, write to us and we’ll delete it.

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email harrison@otrecord.news. We answer within 30 days. If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
